Terminology

A reference glossary for Parkdly's terminology. If you encounter an unfamiliar term in the app or in these docs, this is the place to look it up. Where Parkdly uses a specific term that differs from common disc golf terminology, both terms are noted.

Caddie Book

A Caddie Book is a curated bundle of Tee Signs and Info Boards packaged for players. Each book can be published as a live, mobile-first web page that players open on their phone during a round, and downloaded as a PDF for printing or offline use. A Course can have multiple Caddie Books — for example, a separate book per Layout or division.

Also known as: Digital Caddie Book.

Course

A Course is the complete disc golf layout designed within a selected geographic area. A Course belongs to a Project and holds all Holes, Layouts, and metadata. A Course can represent a permanent installation, a temporary layout, or an event-specific configuration.

Fairway

A Fairway is the defined corridor or path of play on a disc golf hole — the intended area through which discs travel from Tee to Target. In disc golf, the fairway is shaped by the terrain, obstacles, and boundaries that surround the line of play. In Parkdly, the fairway is visually represented by the flight path drawn between Tee and Target using control points.

Hole

A Hole is a single playable unit within a Course. Each Hole has at least one Tee and one Target, but can have different Tee and Target positions for different Layouts — for example, a shorter Tee for a recreational layout and a longer one for a pro layout. The shape of the Hole's flight path is defined by GPS-based control points, which trace the path between Tee and Target as it appears on the map. Holes are the basis for distance calculations and individual Tee Sign generation.

Info Board

An Info Board is a generated graphic that shows a full Course overview — all Holes, Tees, Targets, and terrain context. It is typically produced as a downloadable file and physically installed at the course entrance or parking lot. Together with Tee Signs, Info Boards are the primary graphic output of Parkdly.

Also known as: Course Map, Area Map.

Layout

A Layout is a specific configuration of Holes within a Course. Layouts can represent permanent variations — such as a Pro, Amateur, or Kids layout — or temporary configurations for a specific event.

Project

A Project is a container for one or more Courses. Projects are used when multiple courses belong together — for example, a multi-course venue or a group of courses managed by the same organization.

Signage Template

A Signage Template is a visual design that controls the layout and appearance of a Tee Sign or Info Board. Different templates have different built-in capabilities.

Target

A Target is the geographic endpoint of a Hole — the intended scoring destination. A Hole can have multiple Targets, with different ones used in different Layouts. Distance measurements along the flight path terminate at the Target.

Also known as: Basket, Pin.

Tee

A Tee is the geographic starting point of a Hole, placed as a GPS point on the map and aligned to the intended throwing direction. A Hole can have multiple Tees, with different ones used in different Layouts — for example, a shorter Tee for recreational play and a longer one for competitive play.

Also known as: Tee pad, Tee box.

Tee Sign

A Tee Sign is a generated visual asset intended for physical installation next to a Tee. It is the primary output of the Parkdly design workflow.

A Tee Sign shows a single Hole but can display its different Layout variants — for example, showing both the Pro and Amateur Tee and Target positions on the same sign.

Theme

A Theme controls the visual style — colors, fonts, and font sizes — applied within a Signage Template.
